There are two types of aluminized steel plates: one, called Class 1, is based on heat resistance and can withstand high temperatures of about 640°C. This aluminized steel plate is plated on a mild steel plate with a 20-25 micron thick coating of Al-Si alloy (Si content 6-8.5%). The other is called Class 2, based on corrosion resistance, and its coating thickness is 2 to 3 times that of Class 1. Regardless of the type, the coating is formed by hot dip plating. Therefore, a thin alloy layer is formed between the low carbon steel plate substrate and the coating. Type 1 forms the Al-Fe-Si alloy layer, and type 2 forms the Al-Fe alloy layer. Compared with Class 1, Class 2 has a lower melting point and thicker coating, so it is less weldable.

Aluminized steel plates are used in the environment of heat radiation, acid, condensate and atmospheric corrosion. It has good corrosion resistance. Parts made of aluminized steel used outdoors in rural, industrial cities and Marine areas last longer than galvanized steel. Parts made of steel plates are 2 to 5 times larger and are particularly suitable for corrosion resistance to SO and HS.

High temperature oxidation resistance and thermal radiation reflectivity

The reflectivity of thermal radiation is another characteristic of aluminized steel plate to control, block and inhibit thermal radiation. In a short period of time, its performance can be comparable to pure aluminum, but better than galvanized steel. According to the inspection, after 4 years of outdoor use in the suburbs of the city, the thermal radiation reflection ability of the galvanized steel plate drops to only 5%, similar to the blackbody that absorbs all radiant heat, while the aluminum plate is still 55%.

The high temperature oxidation resistance of aluminized steel plate is also very good. When the surface temperature reaches about 510℃, the aluminum plating layer can prevent the oxidation of the steel plate, and it will not change color. Therefore, it is particularly suitable for heat resistant facilities that are corroded by corrosive condensate or other combustion by-products. At the temperature of 510 ~ 677 ° C, although the aluminum-iron-silicon alloy turns black, the aluminum plating layer can still protect the steel plate. The melting temperature of the steel plate base is 1580℃, which is much higher than the melting temperature of the aluminum layer at 654℃. Due to the relatively high strength of the steel plate, the holding time of the aluminized steel plate in the event of a fire is much longer than that of aluminum, so it can resist, limit and inhibit the danger of flame spread. The disadvantage of aluminized steel plate is that the production cost is higher than that of galvanized steel plate, but it is still more economical in terms of service life. Another disadvantage is that the processing performance of aluminized steel plate is not as good as that of galvanized steel plate.
